This was the greatest tribute to the Queen of Salsa, Celia Cruz. As an African-American, I regret not learning Spanish so that I could appreciate this amazing tribute, which I’ve seen numerous times, even more. But I still loved it. The grand finale to this show brings tears to my eyes every time I see it, knowing that The Legendary Queen of Salsa, was in extreme pain but enjoying every minute of her tribute. My favorite Cruz song remains her last great hit “La Negra Tiene Tumboa.” Every time I hear it, it fills my soul, with the rhythm and spirit of the African Motherland. I regret it was never embraced on R&B radio, as it was deserving. I also regret that the NAACP Image Awards never honored this great lady and the great Latin Culture she descended from. Loved the fact, however, that the legendary Patti LaBelle and Gloria Gaynor, never forgot to honor Cruz and paid Tribute to the Queen, may she forever rest in peace.
